Both the Mariners and Blues will conclude their regular season on Sunday afternoon when they face each other for the final time this year. The Mariners have won both previous meetings including a 2-0 victory back on Wednesday. Their other victory was a 3-2 win. Mariners’ captain Shun Takano has scored twice in the series.
The Mariners currently sit two points back of the Douglas Royals for first place in the standings and are tied with the Langara Falcons for second with 13 points each but own the tie-breaker. It is a must win for the Mariners after they fell 2-1 at Douglas on Saturday as Matthew Coburn scored.
The Blues on the other hand have an opportunity to make things difficult for the Mariners. They haven’t won a game since September 25th and were officially eliminated from the playoff picture after a 2-1 loss to the Falcons on Saturday.

This is the final game of the regular season and it turns out to be an important one for both schools.
The Royals are just two points up on the Falcons and VIU Mariners for first place in the PACWEST standings. Each team has beaten the other this season; the Falcons winning 2-1 in the first game of the year before the Royals dominated with a 5-1 victory last month. This game will be the series rubber match.
On Saturday the Royals won their fifth straight with a 2-1 win over the Mariners as Benjamin Beaulieu scored the game winner in the 51st minute.
The Falcons also recorded a 2-1 victory on Saturday when Rafael Jorge scored in the 77th minute to beat the Blues and officially eliminate them from the post season.
The school that finishes first in the standings receives a bye into the PACWEST gold medal game next weekend.
