In a rare Thursday night game the Langara Falcons upset the Capilano Blues 4-1 after scoring three times in the first half.
The Falcons opened the scoring early on, just under two minutes into the game when Matias Guedes beat keeper Hudson Nelles for his second of the season to give the visitors a lead. Then in the seventh minute Emmanuel Ekeh scored his team leading seventh of the season, which would turn out to be the game winner.
In the 36th minute the Falcons added to their lead when Guedes tallied his second of the game giving the visitors a commanding lead heading into halftime.
In the second half the Falcons continued to pour it on when Ekeh scored his second of the game and eighth of the season in the 60th minute.
The Blues finally responded in the 74th minute when Jeremy Monn-Djasngar scored his fifth of the campaign but it was far too late.
Keeper Kevin Monk made six saves for the Falcons to pick up his first victory of the year.
This coming Saturday the Falcons (2-4-2) will be right back on the pitch when they host the Douglas Royals (5-1-2) at 2:30pm. Meanwhile the Blues (4-2-2) won’t see the field again until October 13th when they host the Falcons in a rematch.
