PACWEST Grad Class: Camosun Chargers
A pair of guards have graduated from the Chargers and will open the next chapter
The Camosun Chargers men’s basketball team is going to look different next season with a new head coach and a new back court.
Last year the Chargers finished the regular season as the second seed, however were upset in a semi-final and had to settle for the bronze medal beating the CBC Bearcats. It would be the last time we would see Jaime Palamos Molins and Eric Lees in a Charger uniform.
Both guards have now graduated and will move on to open the next chapter of their lives as they become members of the PACWEST Grad Class of 2025.
Palamos Molins was a special point guard for the Chargers during his time at Camosun. The Meliana, Spain native won a PACWEST silver and a pair of bronze medals while with the Chargers and did get an opportunity to play at the CCAA national championship two years ago, finishing fourth.
Last year he led the PACWEST in assists averaging 5.67 assists a game, grabbed over six rebounds and averaged 8.4 points. His leadership, calming presence and vision on the floor will be missed going forward.
Eric Lees played all five years at Camosun and knew exactly what his role was. He rarely started a game, (only one this past season), didn’t play a ton of minutes, but was a sparkplug off the bench particularly on the defensive side. He would show off his speed and quick hands, frustrating whoever he was guarding as he got up in their grill.
His leadership wasn’t necessarily on the stats sheet, but the guidance he was able to give to the players on and off the floor was invaluable. He had a way in which he was able to connect with his teammates on more than a basketball level and will be sorely missed next season.
The PACWEST wishes Jaime and Eric the best of luck in their next chapter.
