Men's Basketball Week 11 Preview
Playoff positioning on the line this weekend
Langara Falcons @ Capilano Blues – Friday January 31, 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
On the final day of January, the most intriguing match-up is at Capilano when the Blues welcome the visiting Falcons with only two points separating them in the standings for third place.
The Blues (9-7) have two games in hand and have won three of their last four games. They split the weekend doubleheader with the Falcons in November winning by 15-points but then forfeiting the next night after playing an ineligible player. In the win, they were able to pick apart the Falcons defence shooting 49% with Russell Curley coming off the bench for 20-points. They are currently two points up on the Falcons and trail the second-place Camosun Chargers by eight points.
On the other side, the Falcons (8-10) have won three of their last four and play their next four games on the road. In that loss to the Blues, they shot 34% and Owen Jones had a nice game of 17 points.
Saturday night these two will wrap up Week 11 with tip-off set for 7:00pm.
VIU Mariners @ Douglas Royals – Friday January 31, 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
The top ranked Mariners are on the road for the second straight weekend as they visit the Royals for a doubleheader. They pounded the Royals in November, winning both games by scores of 38 and 26 points respectively.
They have won three in a row and don’t mind being away from home with an undefeated record of 8-0. Their offensive attack has been outstanding averaging 92-points a game and shooting 45% from the field.
The Royals are currently holding down the final playoff spot and have lost two in a row. Despite the setbacks, they find themselves only two points behind the CBC Bearcats for fifth and only four points back of the Langara Falcons in the fourth spot. As a matter of fact, the point separation from third place to sixth is just six points and the Royals have games in hand. They are in tough this weekend when they host the Mariners and are averaging nearly 20 points less than their opponents while shooting 37% from the field.
These schools meet again on Saturday at 3:00pm.

The Bearcats (7-11) currently sit in fifth place but are only four points back of third in the standings with plenty of games still to come to move up in playoff positioning.
