The Mariners, Chargers and Royals win

The top ranked and visiting Mariners held off a late push by the Bearcats and claimed a seven-point win, surprising many.
After outscoring the Bearcats 23-9 in the second quarter, it looked like the Mariners would cruise to a victory, but the home side had other ideas. Both teams scored 17 points in the third quarter before the Bearcats tallied 30 points in the final frame, but just ran out of time to complete the comeback.
The visiting Mariners shot 36.2% from the field and connected on an impressive 10-three pointers led by Kaeleb Johnson who knocked down four and finished with a game high 22 points. They had nine different scorers with Kai Leighton recording a 16 and 11 double-double.
The hometown Bearcats ended the contest shooting 39% and an attempted an eye-popping 28-three pointers, connecting on eight of them. Spencer Dododza led their point total with 16 while Levi Van Egdom finished with 15 and Cam Carter pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Mariners remain undefeated and will see the Bearcats again at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon in the rematch. WATCH HERE

Okanagan Coyotes 63
The Chargers opened the second half of the season with a convincing 20-point victory over the visiting Coyotes. They finished the ballgame shooting 39% on the heels of a big-time game from Izzy Helman and his game high 23 points. Cormick Brown added 19 including five-three pointers and Joe Martens came off the bench for 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Offensively the Coyotes showed some rust after the holiday break shooting 29% from the field. Luke Huddlestone had a nice game of 21 points, hitting five-three pointers and Manny Biden added 12.
The win was the Chargers fifth straight and they will host the Coyotes again on Saturday in the rematch at 3:00pm. WATCH HERE

Langara Falcons 65
The Royals played a gritty road game in the second half opener and took down the Falcons by six-points, outscoring them 12-7 in the final quarter.
They would shoot 43% in the ballgame and 46% from downtown. They scored by committee with seven different scorers led by 13 points from Max Astak and Scottie Austin each while Jeevan Sidhu added 11. It’s their second win in three games dating back to before the holiday break.
Bench scoring was key for the Falcons on Friday night in the close contest. Edriel Asirit came off the bench to tally a game high 17 points and Cameron Vaughn dropped in 14. A total of just 20 points came from their starters as they shot 39% as a team.
Saturday night at 7:00pm, the Royals and Falcons meet for the rematch. WATCH HERE
