Sargeant Salute
Royce Sargeant of the Langara Falcons is named the Athlete of the Year Across All-Sports
The PACWEST is pleased to announce that Royce Sargeant of the Langara Falcons has been named the Male Athlete of the Year Across All-Sports following an impressive men’s basketball season.
In his “super senior” season Sargeant put together a campaign the PACWEST won’t soon forget. He shot 41.4% from the field during the regular season and knocked down 47 three-pointers finishing at 30.1% from the arch and won the PACWEST scoring title averaging 19.8 points a game.
Not only is Royce a pure scorer, but he gets his teammates involved as he collected 100 assists and even used his quick hands and decision-making skills to add a Conference high 77 steals on the defensive side.
Incredibly Sargeant was named the PACWEST men’s basketball Athlete of the Week five times during the regular season for his continuous outpouring of offensive push.
In his final postseason, he shot 52% over the course of the Falcons three games averaging 24-points that included an impressive 36-point performance in his team’s quarterfinal win on the first day. He shot 40% from downtown and drew plenty of defensive attention each time he had the ball. He was named a tournament All-Star and eventually named a CCAA All-Canadian.
Sargeant becomes the third Langara Falcon to win this award and first since 2013-2014 when basketball player Brody Greig was honoured.
Congratulations Royce Sargeant
