The Blues and Falcons capture wins to conclude the basketball regular season
The PACWEST basketball regular season officially came to a close following a pair of postponed men’s games were played on Thursday and Friday involving the CBC Bearcats.
Thursday

The Blues shot out of the gate outscoring the Bearcats 33-22 in the first quarter and never looked back. They shot 51% from the field and hit 11-three pointers cruising to the win. Denver Sparks-Guest led all scorers with 29 points and pulled down seven rebounds. CJ Campbell came off the bench to drop 19 and grab 11 boards.
The Bearcats offence was led by Trent Baker and his 25 points. He nailed three-three pointers and snatched five rebounds. Ykealo Araia chipped in with 17 points and eight boards.
The Blues finish in third place with an 11-7 record and will face the Okanagan Coyotes in Thursday’s quarterfinal as the post season tips off.

The Falcons offence exploded scoring 30+ points in three of the four quarters. They shot 46% from the field and dropped 14-three pointers on route to the victory. Antonio Jhuty had a team high 39 points highlighted by eight-three pointers. Grant Galbraith finished with 24 and 12 boards and Moeiz Athaya had 23 points. Tyler Anderson came off the bench for 13 points and 11 rebounds.
On the other side of the floor the Bearcats shot 45% and nailed 15-three pointers. Ykealo Araia and Trent Baker had monster games offensively. Araia finished with a game high 41 points hitting seven-threes. Baker tallied 39 points, seven assists and seven rebounds in the loss.
With the victory the Falcons lockdown the fourth seed in the playoffs and will battle the fifth seeded Camosun Chargers in Thursday’s quarterfinal. The Bearcats finish the season winless.
