A pair of upsets highlight Friday night in PACWEST basketball
Camosun Chargers 97
VIU Mariners 68
The Chargers upset the first place Mariners on Friday night behind shooting 60% from the field and 54% from downtown. Shaquille Maharaj was a perfect 5-5 from behind the arch and finished with a game high 22 points. Ty Cleland added 11 points and Isaiah Romanow came off the bench for 10 points. Their offence really caught fire in the fourth quarter outscoring the visitors 21-9.
It wasn’t their best game of the season as the Mariners shot 31% from the field. Landon Radliff dropped a team high 18 points and Harry Fayle chipped in with 14. Tyus Barfoot completed the double-double with 13 points and 10 boards.
Saturday night at 7:00pm the scene shifts to VIU as both the Mariners (15-2) and Chargers (8-9) will play in the regular season finale. WATCH HERE
Okanagan Coyotes 82
Capilano Blues 75
In what could be a quarterfinal preview the Coyotes upset the third place Blues in North Vancouver on Friday night. They caught fire in the fourth quarter outscoring the Blues 21-15. Christian Williams led the offence with a game high 28 points and an incredible 21 rebounds. Davide Ciancio added 14 in 33 minutes played.
The Blues had their three game home winning streak come to an end after shooting 33%. Denver Sparks-Guest again led the Blues with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Kelly added 13 and CJ Campbell came off the bench to score 11 points.

Douglas Royals 109
CBC Bearcats 75
The Bearcats hung tough but the Royals just have too much fire power and outscored the Bearcats 30-13 in the final quarter to pull away for the victory.
All 10 Royals’ players scored at least one basket on Friday night led by Courtney Anderson and his game high 29 points and he tallied four assists. Josiah Mastandrea finished with 18 points and Sylvester Appiah in his final game tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bearcats played a solid road game but just couldn’t get the job done despite 28 points from Trent Baker Gabe Mannes chipped in with 20 points and Ykealo Araia added 14 points.
Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm both the Royals and Bearcats will play in their regular season finale at CBC. WATCH HERE
