Men's Basketball Rewind - Week 2
Week 2 of the men's basketball season is in the books
FRIDAY
Capilano Blues 82
VIU Mariners 78
The Blues held off a late surge by the Mariners and remain undefeated with a four point victory. Offensively the Blues had a balanced attack with five players reaching at least 10 points. Denver Guest-Sparks led all scorers with 21 points and 15 rebounds. CJ Campbell was solid as well with 15 points and Kiante Knight had 14.
The Mariners shot 38% from the field led by 19 points each from Harry Fayle and Cameron Gay. Jerod Dorby added 17 points and six rebounds.
Okanagan Coyotes 85
CBC Bearcats 78
In a back and forth game the Coyotes just held on for their second win of the season shooting 42.6% from the field. Hunter Hughes was huge with a game high 23 points and 14 rebounds. Mathew Lafontaine added 15 points and both Jesse Vissia and Darrian Valdes added 11.
Four of the Bearcats five starters reached double-digits as both Trent Baker and Gabe Mannes each tallied 22 points. Braxton Latt dropped 18 while Chris McLachlan had 13.
Camosun Chargers 81
Douglas Royals 76
The Chargers set the pace and outscored the Royals 25-9 in the first quarter and never looked back. They would shoot 43% on the road and were balanced as six players reached double-digits. Ty Cleland led the way with 19 points and Shaquille Maharaj knocked down 15.
The Royals were led by a one man wrecking crew by the name of Courtney Anderson who scored 30 points on 13 of 29 shooting. EJ Christie came off the bench and chipped in with 10 points.
SATURDAY
Langara Falcons 83
Okanagan Coyotes 78
A pair of Falcons scored 57 of their 83 points and paced them to their second win of the season. Antonio Jhuty had a game high 30 points including five-three pointers while Moeiz Athaya dropped in 27 points
The Coyotes were a bit more balanced with five players reaching double-digits led by Davide Ciancio’s 19 points and 10 rebounds. Hunter Hughes also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.

Camosun Chargers 79
The Blues exploded for 34 points in the first quarter and set the tone on route to their fifth victory of the young season. They shot 44% from the field and 37% from downtown with a balanced attack. CJ Campbell led all scorers with 19 points and Brendan Bailey knocked down 14.
The Chargers offence shot 42% from the field led by Dallas Hancox who scored 18 points.
VIU Mariners 88
Douglas Royals 66
The Mariners bounced back and played an outstanding road game in a rematch of last season’s PACWEST gold medal game. They shot 43% from the field and were led by Harry Fayle’s 21 points. Jerod Dorby had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Tyus Barfoot added 10 and 14.
The Royals offence was slowed by the Mariners quick defence however both Courtney Anderson and Tyrone Asenoguan each scored 13 points.
