The PACWEST golfers will converge on Highland Pacific Golf Club this weekend
The PACWEST golfers will converge on Highland Pacific Golf Course in Victoria hosted by the Camosun Chargers this coming weekend.
This is the final tune up before the PACWEST championship tournament. Travis LeClair of the Douglas Royals is hoping for a repeat performance after winning the VIU Invitational last weekend shooting 147 in two rounds. Camosun’s Alex Cordero was hot on his heels finishing one stroke back with a 148. He also shot a tournament low of 71.
This coming weekend the Chargers will no doubt have the advantage playing on their home course. Last weekend as a team the Chargers finished first, two strokes better than the Douglas Royals while the VIU Mariners finished third.
On the women’s side the Mariners’ Alex Forton came from behind to capture the tournament win after shooting a tournament low 82 on day two last weekend. Teammate Mariah Netzer finished second while Natalee Okamura of the Langara Falcons finished third.
Weather can play a major factor on the course this weekend on the Island. Environment Canada is currently calling from a mix of sun and cloud on Saturday with a high of 17. However on Sunday there is an 80% chance of rain and a high of 16, so golfers will be looking to have a solid round in day one with better conditions.
