PACWEST Volleyball Schedule
A modified 15-match schedule will open on November 5th
After a year and a half of questions and uncertainty, the PACWEST is very pleased to announce the 2021-2022 volleyball schedules for both women and men.
Matches are still subject to change depending on the Provincial Health Authority; however the PACWEST is planning for a 15-match modified schedule. Action will open the weekend of November 5-6 as the Douglas Royals host the COTR Avalanche, the Capilano Blues visit the CBC Bearcats and the VIU Mariners welcome their Island rival the Camosun Chargers.
Volleyball will be the second PACWEST sport to return to play. The soccer schedule will open on September 18th will a full slate of games.
The defending CCAA women’s national champions the VIU Mariners will begin their title defence on Friday November 5th when they host the Chargers for back to back matches. Usually these two schools would play a home and home but with the modified schedule both weekend matches will be in Nanaimo.
Meanwhile the defending CCAA men’s champions, the Capilano Blues will start the season on the road with a visit to the CBC Bearcats. The Blues will have a different look at the top with Michael Gilray as the new head coach.
The 15-match schedule concludes on Saturday February 12th. The PACWEST has inserted a bye week prior to the championships in case any matches during the regular season need to be rescheduled.
The PACWEST playoffs will open February 24th and conclude with the gold medal matches on the 26th. From there the top women’s team will head to PEI and Holland College for the CCAA Nationals while the men will travel to Cegep Limoilou in Quebec.

Today’s announcement is particularly exciting and comes after months of discussion of a return to play model. The PACWEST is hopeful cases continue to trend down and the student athletes will finally be able to get back onto the floor to play the sport they know and love.
