Female Athlete of the Week
Kim Bauder – UFV Cascades
The fifth-year captain of the Cascades led her squad to a weekend split against a tough Camosun Chargers squad on the road. On Friday, she racked up eight kills, six service aces and 12 digs, but the Chargers prevailed in four sets. In Saturday’s rematch, Bauder’s nine kills, three aces and 13 digs helped the Cascades earn a four-set victory of their own.
Male Athlete of the Week
Simon Friesen – Capilano Blues
The fourth-year setter was instrumental this week for Capilano, showcasing his ability to run a diverse and balanced offence. Across two wins over CBC, this was evident by the fact that five of Friesen’s attackers finished with double-digits in kills for the weekend. He was also all over the stat sheet himself, finishing with 85 assists, 10 digs, 6 service aces, 2 blocks, and 6 kills.
