RuiLin Huang inducted into CCAA Hall of Fame
This former Royal is one of the most decorated athletes in CCAA badminton history

One of the most decorated athletes in Canadian collegiate badminton history, RuiLin Huang is to be inducted into the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Hall of Fame in the athlete category.
The CCAA Hall of Fame honours the remarkable achievements of individuals who have significantly contributed to Canadian collegiate athletics. The athlete category recognizes those whose outstanding performance, leadership, and sportsmanship at the collegiate level that have left a lasting impact on their sport, their institution, and the CCAA as a whole.
Representing Douglas College from 2008 to 2013, Huang delivered unprecedented dominance in women’s singles badminton. Throughout her five-year collegiate career, she captured five consecutive CCAA National Championships, a feat unmatched in the sport’s history at the collegiate level.
Her consistent excellence was recognized with CCAA All-Canadian and CCAA Player of the Year honours in every year of competition—a perfect five-for-five sweep that highlighted her unwavering presence at the top of the sport.
In addition to her individual accolades, Huang was awarded the CCAA Female Athlete of the Year Across All Sports in 2012, further solidifying her standing as one of the most outstanding student-athletes in Canadian collegiate sport.
“RuiLin demonstrated athletic excellence in badminton and set a standard that continues to inspire,” said Brian McLennon, Douglas College Director of Athletics and Recreation. “Her exemplary performance is a lasting legacy for Douglas College and the CCAA.”
A trailblazer in her discipline, Huang's impact extends far beyond medals and titles. She elevated the Douglas College badminton program and helped raise the profile of CCAA badminton across the country.
