The #1 Avalanche meet the #4 Chargers in a men's semi-final
#4 Camosun Chargers vs #1 COTR Avalanche – Friday February 21, 3:00pm | WATCH HERE
The men’s bracket at the 2025 PACWEST volleyball championship tournament opens on Friday afternoon with the top seeded COTR Avalanche meeting the fourth seed Camosun Chargers with the winner advancing to the gold medal match.
During the regular season, they split their four meetings, the Avalanche sweeping at COTR in November before the Chargers returned the favour at PISE earlier this month.
The Avalanche (15-5) were the top team in the CCAA for the majority of the year until their trip to the Island where they lost four straight matches in the early part of February. They come into this playoff weekend after a split with the Douglas Royals at home and have only one win in their last six matches.
Coming into the PACWEST postseason, the Chargers (10-10) are hoping to regain some of their playoff magic as the fourth seed in this tournament. They were swept last weekend at CBC and have split their four matches in the month of February.
The last time these two met at the PACWEST championship tournament was last year in the bronze medal match in which the Avalanche won in four sets.
This match will no doubt have some hard-hitting kills on both sides of the net. The Avalanche offence comes from the PACWEST Player of the Year in Diego Policarpo who led the Conference with an eye-popping 394 kills in the regular season. The Chargers will counter with several offensive threats including Kyle Stodola and Gabriel Spinelli.
The winner moves onto play for gold on Saturday night at 8:00pm, while the loser plays for bronze again at 3:00pm on Saturday.
