Mariners Meet Avalanche

Friday’s final semi-final will see the Mariners and Avalanche meet with a berth in the gold medal match up for grabs.

During the regular season these two teams met three times with the Mariners winning all three.  They are very familiar with each other after battling just two weeks ago in the regular season finale at COTR.  Their last match was a very exciting five-set thriller that the Mariners pulled off 19-17.

The top seeded Mariners earned a bye into this semi-final while the Avalanche dethroned the reigning champion Capilano Blues on Thursday in a five-set quarterfinal.  The Avalanche needed a 38-36 victory in the fourth set to force a fifth set which they won 15-9.

These teams last met in the post season in 2019 when the Mariners swept the Avalanche in a quarterfinal in Cranbrook and eventually would go onto win PACWEST gold.
