A Charge in the Den
The Camosun Chargers head into the den to face the CBC Bearcats in the quarters
#6 CBC Bearcats @ #3 Camosun Chargers - Thursday February 24 – 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
The final quarterfinal of the day on Thursday will see the third seed Chargers go into a hostile environment to take on the sixth seed and host Bearcats at the PACWEST volleyball championship. The winner moves on, the loser goes home.
The Chargers won all three meetings in the regular season against the Bearcats including winning on this very floor on February 5th in four-sets. They have won four of their last five matches and are poised for another deep run into the post-season. They have won a PACWEST medal in their last six playoff appearances and are back-to-back silver medalists, last winning gold in 2018.
After missing the 2020 playoffs the Bearcats are back in the post-season and are hosting the championship tournament. They are expecting a nice crowd at Columbia Place that the players will try and feed off of after struggling for most of the campaign. Their last PACWEST medal was a silver in 2014, oddly enough that’s also the last time the Chargers didn’t medal.
These two teams last met in the playoffs in 2012 when the Bearcats won a bronze beating the Chargers in four-sets. Bearcats head coach Jason Warkentin was the Player of the Game in that match.
