The PACWEST women’s bronze medal match will see the Chargers and Blues battle to open Championship Saturday at Columbia Bible College.
The Chargers were swept by the Douglas Royals (25-20, 25-14, 25-20) in the semis while the Blues were also swept by the VIU Mariners (25-18, 25-12, 25-17) to set up the bronze medal match.
These two teams met three times during the regular season, all in the month of November with the Chargers winning twice, once a sweep and the other in four sets. Meanwhile the Blues won the first meeting in four sets.
The last time the Chargers won a PACWEST bronze was in 2014, but since then have claimed two silvers. The Blues last bronze came in 2019, a medal they are very familiar with. Since 2010 the Blues have captured this medal an incredible seven times.
Their last post season meeting was in 2020 when the Chargers won in three straight sets in a semi-final.
