A Golden Comeback
The Camosun Chargers are PACWEST champions after a comeback fifth set victory
The Camosun Chargers are going back to the national championship after a come from behind, fifth set victory over the VIU Mariners on Saturday night to win PACWEST gold.
Down 2-0 to the top team in the country the Chargers battled back with a third set victory of 25-22 which started to turn the tide. The injection of rookie Jacob Ringma seemed to make a difference as he recorded several key kills and give the Chargers a third option offensively behind stars Vitor Pereira and Eduardo Bida. Ringma in the match tallied 10 kills and was named the Player of the Match. Pereira and Bida combined for 32 kills and gave the offence balance on route to their victory. They also had contributions from Dale MacDonell and Lornez Vogel out of the middle.
The Chargers will now head to Quebec City as the PACWEST representative at the CCAA national championship at the end of March.
Following the match Ryan Watters talked with head coach Charles Parkinson.
