#2 Douglas Royals @ #1 Capilano Blues – Sunday October 29, 2:30pm | WATCH HERE
The PACWEST gold medal will be awarded on Sunday afternoon in Nanaimo when the Blues and Royals meet on the soccer pitch.
The Blues received the bye into the title game after securing the best record in the regular season. The Royals on the other hand needed to win their semi-final on Saturday against the VIU Mariners, which they did. Christine Singh and Anna Klaver-Valdez scored for the Royals in their 2-0 shutout. Vanessa Chung earned the clean sheet victory.
This gold medal game will be very interesting after their four regular-season meetings. The Royals won the seasonal series with two wins, including a 2-0 shutout last weekend and the teams tied once. The Royals outscored the Blues 7-5.
Offensively for the Royals Alyssa Green and Melisa Huarcaya each scored twice in the seasonal series. The Blues saw Maya Smith score twice against the Royals, both goals came in one game.
The winner of this game will be the PACWEST representative at the CCAA national championship tournament hosted in PEI by Holland College beginning on November 8th.
