A Pair Of Semi-Final Upsets
The Capilano Blues and KPU Eagles will play for men's gold
The Capilano Blues and KPU Eagles will play for PACWEST gold after upsetting the top two teams in the Conference on Friday.
The KPU Eagles needed extra time, but beat the Douglas College Royals 3-2 to punch their ticket to the gold medal game.
Mateo Serka scored the game winner late in the second extra time to push the Eagles forward. Justin Turner-Pearce opened the scoring early in the first half.
The Eagles will now face the Blues on Saturday night at 8:00pm in the PACWEST title game.
A disappointed Royals team will now play for the bronze medal on Saturday.
The Capilano Blues scored an upset of their own, beating the defending champion VIU Mariners 2-1.
Bruno Fieri-Marinho opened the scoring in the seventh minute, before Nicolas Morello extended the lead in the 53rd minute.
The Mariners tried to mount a comeback as Aly Adeeb tallied their only goal at the 83rd minute but it wasn't enough.
The Blues will now play for the PACWEST gold medal when they take on the KPU Eagles at 8:00pm on Saturday.
Regardless of the outcome both teams will head to the National tournament to represent the PACWEST.
The Mariners will battle for the bronze medal.
