Blues Crown Royals
The Capilano Blues bring down the Douglas Royals in Friday's semi-final an advance to the gold game
The top seeded Capilano Blues survived some early game jitters but prevailed in the semi-finals with a 60-49 win over the fourth seeded Douglas Royals.
In a game that didn’t have much of a flow, the Blues shot 34% and were led by Kirsten Abo’s 21 points as she played most of the game. Meagan Briggs was outstanding in her fifth season draining 11 points and grabbing 14 tough rebounds on route to being named Player of the Game. Eight players in total hit the scoresheet as the Blues showed their balanced attack.
The Royals meanwhile shot 26% and had a difficult time finding an open look. Karalee Antoine was named the Player of the Game, leading her club with 15 points which included three-three pointers. Avnoor Waraich had a solid game running the offence adding 10 points. They got into foul trouble early in the ballgame with their post players which handcuffed their offence.
On Saturday the Blues will play for PACWEST gold when they take on the VIU Mariners at 5:30pm, while the Royals will try to repeat as bronze medalists as they take on the Camosun Chargers at 12:30pm.
