Coyotes To Play For Gold
The OC Coyotes claim an upset victory in Friday's semi-final
The Okanagan Coyotes will play for PACWEST gold after a thrilling comeback win over the second seeded Capilano Blues 82-73 on Friday afternoon.
The fourth quarter made the difference as the Coyotes outscored the Blues 28-11 and shot 52.9% in the final frame to secure the victory and are guaranteed the program’s first ever PACWEST medal. Over the course of the game they shot 39% led by Jordan Kemper and her game high 26 points. Paloma Niz Velazquez was also massive in the fourth quarter scoring 11 of her 20 points and was dynamite from the free throw line hitting 11 of 12 shots. They will play in Saturday’s gold medal game at 5:30pm.
The Blues led for the majority of the game shooting 41.5% from the field. Mackenzie Smith scored 17 points and Jenna Griffin added 15 in the setback. They will now play for PACWEST bronze on Saturday at 12:30pm.
