The final women’s quarterfinal on Thursday at the PACWEST basketball championship will see the Royals and Chargers lock up with the winner moving on.
They met three times during the regular season with the Royals winning all three by an average of 9.6 points. They shot 41.1% from the field led by Laini Glover who averaged 13.6 points a game and Jenessa Knapp who dropped 13. The Chargers made the games close despite shooting 27.8% as Allison Brinton led the way averaging 12 points a contest.
Coming into the tournament the Royals have sputtered winning just once in the last six games sliding down into the fourth spot in the standings. One of their two wins in the month of February came against the Chargers.
It’s also been a tough month for the Chargers who only played four games in February winning once. They will need to shake off some early rust after playing one game in the last three weeks.
The winner will face the top seeded VIU Mariners in Friday’s semi-final.
