PACWEST WBB Gold Medal - Blues v. Mariners

The top two teams are in the gold medal game for the second straight season.  The Mariners are the defending PACWEST champions after an 82-77 victory last year.

Last night the Mariners blew past their island rival the Camosun Chargers while the Blues hammered the Douglas Royals to get to this gold medal game.  With their wins both the teams have qualified for the CCAA national championship tournament which will be hosted at VIU.

During the regular season these schools met three times with the Mariners winning two of them.  As a matter of fact the Blues are the only team to have beaten the top seed this season, which was on January 25 at Capilano.   Both teams are extremely even and it should be a game that comes down to the final buzzer.  These schools also represent the last two teams to have won PACWEST gold.  The Mariners last year and the Blues in 2018, at VIU.
