Championship Saturday opens up with the women’s bronze medal game as the Chargers and Royals meet in the post season for the first time since 2018 when the Chargers upset the top ranked Royals.
The bronze medal game is arguably the toughest game in sports after both team fell in their semi-final yesterday. After winning their quarterfinal the Royals went ice cold in their loss to the second seeded Capilano Blues. They last won bronze in 2018.
The Chargers on the other hand, upset the fourth seeded Langara Falcons in the quarterfinal, but then found it difficult score points against the top ranked VIU Mariners in their semi-final. They are the defending PACWEST bronze medalists.
During the regular season these two schools met three times including two weekends ago. The Royals have won two of their three games, but all three have been tight. As a matter of fact two of the three meetings saw the winning team win by just one basket.
