Royals Pound Chargers
The Douglas Royals blow by the Camosun Chargers in the semi-final and will play for gold
Douglas Royals 102
Camosun Chargers 68
The rematch is set as the Royals will face the VIU Mariners in the PACWEST gold medal game after a blowout win over the Chargers on Friday night. The Royals are also the only team to reach the 100 point plateau in the tournament.
Their high flying offence shot 53% from the field led by Player of the Game Dylan Kinley and his game high 21 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Courtney Anderson quarterbacked the offence and tallied 20 points and nine rebounds and Reese Morris chipped in with 15 points. Bollo Ghahore was terrific off the bench with 11 points, six of which courtesy of the dunk.
The Chargers hung with the Royals early on and played them tough. In the end however they shot a below average 28% from the field led by Shaquille Maharaj and his 15 points. Atlas St. Paul-Butler dropped in 14 as did Takeshi Croke coming off the bench.
The gold medal game will be a very entertaining one with a pair of offences that love to run up and down the floor led by their guards. Tip-off between the Royals and Mariners is set for 8:00pm, while the Chargers will face the Okanagan Coyotes in the bronze medal game at 3:00pm.
