The 2020 PACWEST basketball championship opens on Thursday with four quarterfinals; the first sees the Royals and Coyotes battle. Both teams lost in their quarterfinal last year and made an early exit in this tournament. These two schools met three times during the regular season with the Royals winning all of them by an average of 22.6 points. Their last meeting was January 25th.
The winner moves onto the semi-final on Friday and will meet the #2 seeded and host Capilano Blues while the loser heads home. The Royals have caught fire as of late winning six of their last seven, a streak that began with a win over the Coyotes.
Meanwhile the Coyotes have played better coming into the post season, winning three of their last four and will need to play their best game of the season to get by the Royals.
