The first upset of the PACWEST basketball championship as the #5 seeded Chargers beat the #4 seeded Falcons in the quarterfinal on Thursday evening.
Other than two ties, the Chargers led from start to finish opening the game with a 12-0 run. That said both teams did not shoot the ball well. The Chargers shot 29% from the field led by Player of the Game Chloe Scaber who dropped a team high 21 points including knocking down three-three pointers. Maddison Manns was also solid with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The Falcons season comes to a close for the second straight year at the hands of the Chargers. They shot just 28% from the field and 15% from downtown digging themselves in a hole. Emma Jones had 21 points and 11 boards while the Player of the Game Meagan Briggs dropped 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Chargers now move onto the semi-final and will face the top seeded VIU Mariners on Friday at 5:30pm.
