The Coyotes comeback to beat the Blues in the quarterfinals
Okanagan Coyotes 84
Capilano Blues 82
The Okanagan Coyotes record their first playoff win in school history in dramatic fashion in a come from behind win over the host Capilano Blues. They would outscore the Blues 29-18 in the final frame and didn’t lead until just minutes left in the game.
The Coyotes shot 44% from the field led by their All-Star Eric Marbury who finished with 21 points after just two points at halftime. He hit a pair of massive free throws at the end of the game to give the Coyotes the lead for good. Jeff Tubbs and Jesse Vissia started the run with four timely three pointers and finished with 16 points while Seth Blundell had 10 points and 10 boards.
The loss was a heartbreaker for the Blues who led all but two minutes of the game. They out rebounded the Coyotes 46-28 but gave up two offensive rebounds with time winding down that came back to haunt them. Martin Bogajev was outstanding with a game high 28 points on the strength of six-three pointers and had seven rebounds. Nathan Bromige chipped in with 12 points.
With the win the Coyotes will play in their first ever PACWEST semi-final when they face the #2 seeded VIU Mariners on Friday at 3:00pm.
