Happy International Women’s Day!
The Blues continue their quest for a national medal this afternoon when they meet the Ontario champion Humber Hawks in a bronze medal semi-final.
The Blues were swept by a very talented Lakeland Rustlers team on Thursday 25-13, 25-13, 25-8. Annika Kuznik collected four kills and Vanesa Gatto was named their Players of the Match.
Meanwhile the Hawks were swept on Wednesday by the Red Deer Queens before bouncing back yesterday with a four-set victory over the ACAA champion UKC Blue Devils to keep their quest of a national medal alive.
Friday the Blues will need to be aware of Te-Anna Stephenson and Cassidy Andrews who are the big swingers for the Hawks on their offensive side.
On their own offence the Blues will need Nnya Mbaoma to be involved. She was outstanding in their quarterfinal win but was quiet yesterday in their loss. That said, everyone on the Blues offence needs to have a big match with only the winner moving on to play on Saturday.
The team that comes out victories today will advance to the national bronze medal match; the loser has their season end.
