The PACWEST is proud to announce the Volleyball Athletes of the Week following Week 1 of the season.
Female Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Andrea Cankovic – VIU Mariners
Cankovic led the Mariners in a pair of very challenging matches at UFV. On Friday night she tallied 15 offensive points (9 kills, 4 blocks, and 2 aces). She was also strong defensively recording 15 digs. She continued her strong play chipping in Saturday with another 9 kills, an ace and a block for a total of 11 offensive points in only three sets. In just seven sets played over the weekend she was very strong totalling 18 kills, 3 aces, 5 blocks for 25 offensive points and 20 total defensive digs.
Male Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Reid Marriott – Douglas Royals
In a pair of sweeps this weekend the Royals were led by second year athlete Reid Marriott. On Friday he collected eight kills and 1.5 blocks and totalled 11.5 points. Then on Sunday he continued to blast the COTR Avalanche and collected 15 kills and finished with 18.5 offensive points.
