A "Rosy" Athlete of the Year
Megan Rosenlund has been named the PACWEST Athlete of the Year across all sports
The PACWEST is proud to announce Megan Rosenlund of the VIU Mariners as the women’s Athlete of the Year across all sports.
During her fifth and final PACWEST season the Riverside Secondary grad was a clear leader on and off the floor. On it, she led the PACWEST with an average of 3.34 kills per set, compiling 277 overall, along with 27 service aces and 324 total offensive points as an undersized power hitter.
With everything she accomplished offensively, it has been her defence that has pushed her to the next level. She was second on the Mariners, behind only the libero with 249 digs and managed 20 blocks. As good players do, Rosenlund has a nose for the ball and setting up in the right position to give her the best chance to track a ball.
Off the court the Port Coquitlam native excels in the classroom taking a Bachelor of Arts. She is a leader and a role model for her younger teammates and is always looking for ways to help them improve.
The rest of the PACWEST and CCAA also took note of her accomplishments. She was named the CCAA women’s volleyball Player of the Year, a CCAA All-Canadian, the PACWEST Player of the Year and a PACWEST First Team All-Star. Over the course of the regular season she was voted as the Athlete of the Week twice.
She helped the Mariners to a PACWEST gold medal and a CCAA bronze.
Rosenlund becomes the second straight Mariner to win his award following in the footsteps of Tylar Turnbull last season.
Congratulations Megan Rosenlund!
