Mariners Sweep the Beacats
The visiting CBC Bearcats were hoping for better results this afternoon after losing last night's match. The host Mariners had other ideas as they increased their winning streak to six matches. The Bearcats made a game of it in the first set but the Mariners came out of it with a set score of 25-22. The next two sets were relatively easier for the Mariners and they took the match 3-0. Final score was 25-22, 25-10, 25-10.
"I was pleased with our win tonight" stated Mariners Coach Hyde. "I feel CBC is a very talented well coached team and our goal was to stop their middle attack and make them beat us outside. We did a very good job serving tough and stopping their middle. Our offence was well balanced and I was very pleased with how our team stuck with our game plan all night. Another strong night from 5th year Tylar Turnbull and 4th year power Megan Rosenlund. VIU player of the game went to Andrea Crankovic."
The Mariners are on the road next weekend at Douglas while the Bearcats have the weekend off.
