Chargers come from behind to win 3-2
The Chargers patiently waited for the Capilano Blues Friday night at P.I.S.E. With both teams coming off last weekend splitting their respective series, this weekend's matches would pit the second and third ranked team in the conference against each other.
The Chargers started off a bit slow losing the first two sets 25-17, 25-23. The Blues hoping for a clean sweep would be disappointed as they lost the third set 25-21. With momentum swung over to the Chargers side, the hometown squad would produce another set win 25-21 to tie the match at two. The fifth and final set saw the Chargers maintain that momentum as they finished off the comeback with a 15-9 win to take the match 3-2.
“Coming back from an 0-2 deficit and winning in 5 sets is a always a big deal in our sport. Doing it against a tough opponent like Capilano University definitely got our weekend off on the right foot." stated Camosun's head coach Chris Dahl. "There are a number of experiences our teams benefit from over the course of a season and persevering through a long match after falling behind early is definitely something you can’t plan for, but when it happens you embrace.”
“Katie Fetting worked 25 points into the match on Friday. That’s a big number. You can’t ignore that in the game. Hidden in the numbers are set assists from Jenna Poole and the quality of our first contact, specifically… Mychaela Roelant’s passing average and perfect pass percentage." continued Dahl. "Our system monitors conversion rates. How does the quality of our first contact influence our offensive efficiencies and do our digs convert into swings in transition? Those numbers are starting to pick up for us at the right time in the season."
