Mariners Thump the Bearcats

In tonights action, the VIU Mariners played host to the CBC Bearcats.  After starting the season with two straight loses, the Mariners have turned things around and are now on a four match winning streak while the Bearcats are coming off a split with COTR last weekend.

The Mariners entered the night with many players on the leaderboard and were looking for contributions from all of them.  Mariner Tylar Turnbull entered the night sitting first in Blocks (1.21 avg) and third in Total Offense (4.16 avg) while Mariner Chantal Cummings sat in second in Aces (0.71 avg). Bearcat Karah Kostamo sat in second spot (0.74 avg) behind Turnball for Blocks.

The first set saw the Mariners defeat the Cats 25-15 and the second set did not fair to well either as the Mariners won that set 25-11.  The third set was better for CBC but VIU proved too strong for the visitors taking the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.

Both teams go at it again tomorrow afternoon at 3 pm.
