The PACWEST champion Douglas Royals meet the University of King’s College Blue Devils in a consolation game on Saturday morning after both teams fell on Friday in their bronze semi-final.
The Royals dropped a 3-1 decision to the RSEQ champion Saint-Lambert Cavaliers on Friday in PEI. Their lone goal was scored by Haylie Husting with the game already out of reach in the 89th minute. The Cavaliers tallied all three goals in the second half to advance to the national bronze medal game.
Meanwhile the Blue Devils fell 1-0 to their provincial rival the Hollard Hurricanes. Essentially the Blue Devils have followed the same path of the Royals to find themselves in this consolation game. They fell 2-0 in their quarterfinal game with the Seneca Sting on Wednesday, then beat the Brandon Bobcats by the same score before getting shutout by the Hurricanes on Friday.
Following this game, the national bronze medal will be decided when the Hurricanes meet the Cavaliers then the Sting battle Sainte-Foy in the CCAA gold medal game.
