Blues and Royals Score Wins

Sunday afternoon the Blues and Royals each claimed their fourth wins of the season and sit atop the standings.

Sunday afternoon the Blues scored three unanswered goals on route to their fourth win of the season and remain undefeated.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Rachel Barker found the back of the net, getting the shot past keeper Alexa Gazzola. After that however, it was all Blues.

The visitors would tie the score in the 34th minute when Andrea Perrotta tallied her first of the season and the teams carried a 1-1 tie into halftime.

In the second half Jessica Thaler broke the tie for the Blues with her first of the campaign in the 63rd minute. The goal would stand as the game winner. Then in the 76th minute Kayla Campbell tallied her second of the season giving the Blues some insurance.

Falcons’ keeper Alyssa Narayan was busy facing 11 shots from the Blues offence and made eight saves.

VIU Mariners 0

For the second straight weekend the Douglas Royals blanked the defending PACWEST champion VIU Mariners after a 2-0 shutout on Sunday afternoon. The clean sheet is the Royals’ third of the season.

Christine Singh tallied her first of the year in the 19th minute, a goal that would stand as the game winner. Then in the second half Amanda Hila added an insurance goal, her third of the year, in the 75th minute to give the Royals a two-goal advantage on route to their fourth victory.

Keeper Elisha Machado continued her hot play in the net making 14 saves in the shutout win.
