Douglas Royals vs. Okanagan Coyotes – Friday March 15, 2:00pm PST | WATCH HERE
On October 13, 2023 the Royals and Coyotes started the season against one another and now on March 15, 2024 they will end the season going head to head.
It’s a rematch of the PACWEST gold medal game when these two meet in the CCAA Placement Game on Friday afternoon in Alberta.
The PACWEST champion Royals have had a tough tournament in their first appearance at the nationals since 2017. They lost their quarterfinal game on Wednesday by 13 to the RSEQ wildcard Geants de Saint-Jean, then got crowned by The King’s Eagles from Edmonton on Thursday losing by 33 points. The fourth quarter was not kind as they were outscored 23-9.
Meanwhile the Coyotes have faced a pair of Conference champions this tournament, falling by 41 points to the ACAC champion Lakeland Rustlers on Wednesday, then losing by 16 to the ACAA champion UKC Blue Devils on Thursday. They will face another Conference champion on Friday but are very familiar with the Royals.
During the seasonal series, including the PACWEST gold medal game, the Royals have won three of their five head-to-head meetings. If you remember, the Royals won 85-71 in Kelowna two weeks ago with four players hitting double figures led by Mackenzie Dalphond’s 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Despite this being a CCAA Placement Game, there is so much pride on the line when these two PACWEST school battle for bragging rights.
