Chargers Blast Into Season
The Camosun Chargers open the new PACWEST season
The Camosun Chargers came within one win of the PACWEST title last year and a berth in the CCAA national championship. The Chargers upset the top seeded Douglas Royals in the semi-final beating them by eight points to advance to the gold medal game. They fell just short of the Capilano Blues losing by five points.
Thursday night the Chargers will no doubt try and regain that momentum when they tip-off the new season under second year head coach Cait Haggarty.
A season ago they shot 37% from the field and 31% from behind the arch. They return a number of key pieces from their silver medal winning team including Mia Roberts, Kathryn Candell and Tessa Lannon-Paakspuu.
Now entering her second season and having a good idea of what the other PACWEST teams can do Coach Haggarty has higher expectations for her team. “I expect this team to work hard and enjoy the process.”
