The Capilano Blues ran out of gas and lost in overtime
The Capilano Blues’ shooters went ice cold at the wrong time as they fell 73-69 in overtime to the RSEQ champion Dawson Blues.
The PACWEST champs led for most of the game but were outscored 18-8 in the final frame and shot 16% from the field. Then in overtime they’ve couldn’t find their groove and were outscored 10-6. Ashley dela Cruz Yip was named player of the game with 15 points, six assists, eight rebounds and a pair of steals. Carmelle M’Bikata played a solid game with 17 points, 14 rebounds and a block.
Defensively they held Dawson to 30% from the field and 9% from behind the arch, but it wasn’t enough.
The Blues have a quick turnaround will face the ACAC wildcard Medicine Hat Rattlers on Friday at 11:00am PST. They have the Conference player of the year in Kennedy Werre but lost to the host and ACAA champion Mount Allison Mounties 61-49.
