FRIDAY

The Mariners rode a 22 point second quarter to an impressive road win at Camosun on Friday night. The win comes despite the Chargers scoring 29 points in the final frame, after dropping just six in the third quarter.

Kaitlyn LaFontaine knocked down 16 to lead the Mariners while Emma Platner and Juliet King each scored 11. As a team the visitors shot 35% from the field.

The Chargers on the other hand were led by Mia Roberts and her game high 22 points. She was 9 of 18 and the only Charger to score in the double-digits.

Douglas Royals 70
Capilano Blues 67

It was a game that featured 10 lead changes and 4 ties. Down by five heading into the fourth quarter the Royals outscored the Blues 19-11 to claim a solid road win. They shot 45% from the field and were led by Sarah Jorgenson’s 17 points as well as 16 from Nanaya Miki. Rachel Beauchamp was fantastic with 15 points and a game high 16 rebounds.

The Blues shot 42% and were led by Ashley dela Cruz Yip and her 23 points on 10 of 18 shootings. Francis Penafiel added 12 points.

Quest Kermodes 79
Langara Falcons 64

The Kermodes completed the road team sweep on Friday night clinching the final playoff spot. With only seven players on their roster they shot 44% from the field led by an outstanding game from Kyra Boulding. She dropped a game high 25 points and grabbed 19 rebounds. Emily Lachenmayer came off the bench and scored 16.

The Falcons fell behind early and couldn’t recover scoring just eight points in the first quarter. Alexa Leynes was solid leading the way with 19 points.

SATURDAY

Camosun Chargers 75
VIU Mariners 57

The Chargers bounced back in a big way on Saturday leading from start to finish and shot 40%. They connected on 11-three pointers led by Aija Salvador off the bench dropping 20 points, including six from downtown. Meanwhile Kathryn Candell added 12 as did Ella Goldschmid.

Perhaps more impressive however was their defence. They held the Mariners to 29% shooting and created 24 turnovers.

That said Emily Clarke had a monster game of 14 points and 15 rebounds to lead the visitors.

With the victory the Chargers finish fourth while the Mariners land in the third spot.

Douglas Royals 72
Capilano Blues 57

The Royals clinched first place with an impressive road victory on Saturday on the strength of a 28 point third quarter. They shot 39% overall and Sarah Jorgenson was seemingly unstoppable dropping a game high 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in her final regular season game. She was the only Royals player to score over 10 points.

Despite the loss the Blues will finish second after shooting 37%. In their final PACWEST regular season games Carmelle M’Bikata and Ashley dela Cruz Yip led the way. M’Bikata scored 14 tough points and snagged 11 boards while Yip dropped in 13.

In their final PACWEST regular season game the Kermodes caught fire in the second quarter and scored 33 points, then dropped 29 in the fourth. In all they shot 48% and five players reached the double-digit plateau led by Kimmy Aburegeba’s 18 points and Emily Lachenmayer scored 13 and grabbed 13 boards.

The Falcons’ season comes to a close after shooting 37% from the field. Alexa Leynes scored 15 while Bronte Stark dropped in 14 points.
