Week 9 of the PACWEST basketball season is in the books, here's the rewind
FRIDAY
CBC Bearcats 69
Camosun Chargers 61
It was an upset win for the Bearcats who set the pace in the first quarter outscoring the Chargers 13-9 and never looked back. Offensively four of the five starters hit double-digits led by the game high 18 from Sarah Rozendal. Makayla Starman was the only Bearcat starter not to reach at least 10 points, but did have a monster game on the boards with 11 rebounds. Meanwhile Deanna Esau had a double-double of 10 points and 11 boards.
The win sets Bearcat history as they clinch their first ever playoff spot in their 12th season.
Ashley McGinnis led the Chargers coming off the bench with 15 points on five-three pointers. Kathryn Candell hit three-threes and collected 13 points.
Capilano Blues 68
Langara Falcons 61
Looking at the standing, this game finished a lot closer that many thought it would. The Falcons scored 18 points in the final frame and almost completed an amazing comeback.
The Blues who were without point guard Ashley dela Cruz Yip, shot 38% from the field. Carmelle M’Bikata was nearly unstoppable with a game high 26 points and 16 rebounds. MacKenzie Smith came off the bench to tally 14 points.
The Falcons shot 40% in the second half and connected on six-three pointers. Alexa Leynes tallied 19 points and Trisha Pajayon dropped in 14. Stephanie von Riedermann was solid on the glass grabbing 11 boards.

Quest Kermodes 59
The defending champs led from start to finish and shot an incredible 55%. Offensively Simran Bir came off the bench and nailed three-three pointers and scored a game high 19 points. Sarah Jorgenson was solid with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Rachel Beauchamp dropped 14 points and eight boards. Forty of the Royals 82 points came from their bench.
Four Kermodes reached double-digits led by Emily Lachenmayer who had 13 points. Both Eliska Vavrova and Kyra Boulding each tallied 11 points.
SATURDAY
Camosun Chargers 66
CBC Bearcats 57
The Chargers bounced back from an upset loss on Friday to beat the Bearcats by nine points. Only Ashley McGinnis reached the double-digit plateau with 16 points on the strength of five-three pointers. Kathryn Candell chipped in with nine points, all courtesy of the three pointer.
The Bearcats shot 37% from the field led by Anna Kamerman’s 18 points and eight rebounds coming off the bench. Sarah Rozendal dropped in 12 including a pair of threes.
Capilano Blues 76
Langara Falcons 55
The Blues bounced back on Saturday afternoon dominating the Falcons shooting 47%. Four players reached double-digits including a solid game from Carmelle M’Bikata who had 16 points and 15 rebounds. Zuzia Zdziechowski had a team high 17 points and Reiko Ohama was outstanding quarterbacking the offence with 13 assists.
On the Falcons side Alexa Leynes scored a game high 20 points on the strength of four-three pointers. Eloise Faehndrich chipped in with 14 points. Defensively they were able to create 27 turnovers.

Quest Kermodes 54
The Royals led from wire to wire after outscoring the Kermodes 23-7 in the first quarter and at one point led 20-2. Rachel Beauchamp tallied 19 points and 11 rebounds while Nanaya Miki dropped in 16.
The Kermodes in their final home game had just seven players in their line-up and were led offensively by Kimmy Aburegeba’s game high 20 points. Senior Emily Lachenmayer grabbed 12 rebounds to be a force on the boards.
