Blues too strong for visiting Falcons
The CapU Blues (3-1) hosted the Langara Falcons (2-2) Friday night at the Sportsplex in North Vancouver and were victorious, 66-37. The Blues came out strong and went into halftime with a 41-22 lead. After putting together a big third quarter (19-8), it was just too big of a deficit for the Falcons to make much ground in the fourth quarter.
Leading the way for the Blues, third-year forward Carmel M’Bikata (15 points, 15 rebounds), first-year point guard Cyrille Butac added 11 points off the bench including 2-3 from beyond the arc, second-year guard Sherrie Errico and third-year forward Karyn Nelson each pitched in 10 points on the night.
“I thought our team played a great on both ends of the floor and we had contribution from many different people. I was especially impressed by Carmelle M'Bikata. She had a double-double at halftime tonight and continues to play consistent for us” commented Blues head coach Ramin Sadaghiani “I think we need to continue to work on our offensive flow and our consistency over 40 minutes. There are points in the game where we stop doing the things that are working for us which takes us out of rhythm. It's still early so we still need show that we can put 4 strong quarters together.”
The Blues take on the defending PACWEST champs, Quest Kermodes (3-1) tonight, Nov. 14th at 5 p.m. at the Sportplex in North Vancouver while the Falcons travel to the Douglas Royals also at 5 pm.
