On Halloween night, the Douglas College Royals visited the Sportsplex to open up PACWEST league play. With the Blues displaying a lot of nerves out of the gate and the Royals coming out firing, the Royals ended the first quarter with a ten-point lead, 17-7. The Blues struggled to settle into the second quarter but picked it up with three minutes to go after fifth-year guard, Michelle Errico knocked down a timely three and a fade away jumper to bring the Blues within 15 at half, 39-24. The Royals had strong contributions from fourth-year forward Nanaya Miki and third-year guard Simran Bir who each finished the first half with 11 points while the Blues were led by returners Carmel M’Bikata and Errico who each contributed 8 points in the half.
A dominant performance from start to finish by the Royals was capped off with a 66-53 victory. Miki finished off the night with 18 points, 6 rebounds and Bir contributed 15 points including three 3-pointers for the Royals. The Blues were led by Errico (17 points) and M’Bikata (10 points and 8 rebounds).
