For the second consecutive season the Chargers and Manitoba champion Pilots meet at the CCAA national tournament.
Last year the Chargers beat the Pilots in four sets in a quarterfinal as the Pilots made their national debut.
It’s a quick turnaround for the Chargers after losing to the Humber Hawks late last night to be relegated to the bronze medal side. They dropped their match in four-sets but had good offensive production from Edvard Adolfsen and his 16 kills, Kyle Stodola had 11 and Jake Bolton added nine.
The Pilots lost a heartbreaking fifth set in their quarterfinal loss on Thursday to the NAIT Ooks out of Edmonton and are still looking for their first nationals win. Noah Boschman was their primary weapon on offence with 25 kills and Arturo Duran added 14. They are a pair of players the Chargers defence will need to be ready for.
The winner of this match advances to the bronze medal semi-final on Saturday and will face either the VIU Mariners or Titans de Limoilou.
