Men's Volleyball Summary - Friday
The Royals, Chargers and Mariners each won on Friday
VIU Mariners 3 – 26-24, 24-26, 23-25, 26-24, 15-7
CBC Bearcats 2
Friday night was an exciting five set match that saw three of the sets finish at 26-24. The Mariners offence was extremely balanced with 11 players recording at least one kill. Jeff Webb led the way with 18 kills while Isaac Bevis tallied 27 digs.
The Bearcats put up an extremely tough fight led by Jacob Molitwenik’s 16 kills and Matthew Penner had 10. Setter Graham Walkey was busy collecting 38 assists.
Camosun Chargers 3 – 22-25, 25-11, 25-21, 25-18
UFV Cascades 1
The Brazilian connection of Vitor Periera and Eduardo Bida led the Chargers with a combined 28 kills on route to the victory. Setter Mack Mravnik was solid with a balanced game plan recording 34 assists.
After the first set the Cascades offence was frustrated scoring points. Ben Friesen and Landon Uy each had six kills to lead their team.
Douglas Royals 3 – 28-26, 22-25, 25-13, 25-23
COTR Avalanche 1
The first place Royals are the hottest team in the PACWEST with three straight victories after Friday night’s win in Cranbrook. The dynamic duo of Max Haronga and Reid Marriott combined for 23 kills and reigning Athlete of the Week Jared Collin recorded another 20 assists.
The Avalanche offence didn’t have much push back other than the 12 kills from Caleb Peters and the 10 from Kyle Butchart.
