Men's Volleyball Summary
Week 5 of the men's volleyball season is in the books
FRIDAY
VIU Mariners 3 – 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17
Douglas Royals 1
The Mariners wasted little time taking care of the Royals on Friday night. Braydon Brouwer collected 13 kills and Jeff Webb added 10. Setter Keal Prince ran the offence with 22 assists.
The Royals offence were led by Max Haronga’s 12 kills and Reid Marriott’s 11. Jared Collin added 31 assists.
Camosun Chargers – 25-20, 25-16, 25-21
Capillano Blues 0
The Chargers made quick work of the Blues on Friday night led by the 10 kills from Eduardo Bida. Their offence ran through setter Mack Mravnik and his 29 assists.
The Blues offence was very quiet as Jacob Hopkins finished with seven kills.
COTR Avalanche 3 – 25-23, 27-25, 25-17
CBC Bearcats 0
The Avalanche took care of the Bearcats quickly and quietly on Friday night. Caleb Peters led the way with 12 kills and Mack Armstrong tallied 31 assists.
The Bearcats offence was led by Stefan Halas and his eight kills. Setter Graham Walkey tallied 18 assists.
SATURDAY
Douglas 3 – 25-22, 25-19, 25-21
VIU Mariners 0
The Royals stormed back on Saturday after losing in four sets on Friday. Max Haronga led the charge with 11 kills and Reid Marriott had 10. The offence was conducted by Jared Collin and his 28 assists.
The Mariners offence struggled as Braydon Brouwer led the way with nine kills.
Camosun Chargers 3 - 25-22, 25-14, 20-25, 25-16
Capilano Blues 1
For the second straight day the Chargers took care of the Blues very quickly. Vitor Periera led the way with 16 kills and 11 digs while Eduardo Bida chipped in with 10 kills and 15 digs.
Offensively the Blues were led by the nine kills from Markus Bratsberg and the 23 assists from Simon Friesen.
COTR Avalanche 3 – 25-27, 25-22, 26-24, 25-16
CBC Bearcats 1
The Avs sweep the weekend with a balanced offence led by Matt Cesepdes and his 12 kills. Setter Mark Armstrong was outstanding distributing the ball with 34 assists.
The lone Bearcat to reach kills in double-digits was Jacob Molitwenik who tallied 10. Meanwhile Graham Walkey had 24 assists.
