In a rematch of the PACWEST gold medal match the Camosun Chargers bounced back after a heartbreaking loss last night to defeat the VIU Mariners in five-sets in the CCAA bronze medal semi-final.

After a quick turnaround from last night’s five-set loss the Chargers showed their team character to win 25-21, 17-25, 16-25, 25-21 and 15-7.

Libero Elion Wong was named the player of the match for the Chargers with 17 digs commanding the backcourt and getting to loose balls. Offensively Jerome Cross put on another hitting display with 32 kills, 10 digs, had a block and an ace. Matthew Bowers had 10 kills while Rian Plante came off the bench with six.

The Chargers will meet the ACAC wildcard Keyano Huskies in the CCAA bronze medal match. It’s the second time they’ve met in this tournament after the Chargers swept them on Thursday night in the quarterfinals.

For the Mariners, their season comes to an end. Jeff Webb was named player of the match with a team high 15 kills, two aces and eight digs. Braydon Brouwer chipped in with 10 kills and three blocks.
