Royals dismantle the Bearcats
The Douglas Royals headed into the weekend series undefeated in five. Their opposition were the CBC Bearcats who registered their first win of the season last week vs the COTR Avalanche. Hoping to capture some of that success, the Cats travelled to New West Friday night. Unfortunately for CBC, they faced an opposition that is in the stretch run in preparations for the Provincials and National Championships.
Friday night was a rather uneventful evening for the Royals as they took the match convincingly with set scores of 25-10, 25-12, 25-9. The Royals had solid performances from Matt Santema (7 kills, 1 block, 5 aces, 4 digs) & Justin Faester (7 kills, 5 aces, 1 dig).
"This was a good effort for us. CBC was coming off an emotional win vs COTR the weekend before and we wanted to be sure we matched their intensity, determination, and enthusiasm." commented Royals head ciach Brad Hudson. "Despite their record I think Jason (CBC Head Coach, Jason Warkentin) has done an excellent job with his crew. The first year coaching is extremely challenging and he's definitely got them on the right path."
Both teams return to the court Saturday at 7 pm.
