Chargers Halt Avalanche
The Camosun Chargers made the long and gruelling road trip to Cranbrook this weekend. The 17-3 Chargers were looking continue the momentum gained when they swept the Capilano Blues last weekend while the Avs were looking to close the gap between themselves and Cascades who sit four points ahead of them in the standings heading into Friday night's match.
The evening started off well for the Chargers as they won the 1st set 25-22. The 2nd set was even closer with the Chargers squeeking out a 29-27 win. Being down 2-0 did not sit well with the Avs. They battled back hard and won the next two sets 25-20, 25-23 to force a 5th and final set. Unfortunately for the Avs, the Chargers closed out the set 15-6 to take the match 3-2.
"I was proud of our team for not quitting and thinking that the match was over after going down 2-0." commented Avs head coach Swanson. "Camosun played very well in the 5th set making sure to play very clean volleyball while our players made some untimely hitting and passing errors. I told the guys that each match is a learning opportunity and to focus on the many positive plays that occurred in the match."
Both team renew hostilities Saturday at 3 pm.
